Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Purkinje Lab ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be a currently enrolled medical student with a valid .edu email address to create an account. You must be at least 18 years old.

3. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information during registration and to keep it up to date.

4. Tutor Responsibilities

Tutors must accurately represent their qualifications, academic standing, and experience. Tutors must complete sessions they have accepted. Purkinje Lab reserves the right to remove tutors who fail to meet platform standards.

5. Student Responsibilities

Students agree to attend booked sessions on time and to provide honest reviews. Cancellations must be made in accordance with the cancellation policy.

6. Payments and Fees

All payments are processed through Stripe. Purkinje Lab charges a platform fee of 10–15% depending on booking type. Tutors keep 85% of single sessions and 90% of package and recurring bookings. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis through our support team.

7. Optional tutor listing promotions

Tutors may purchase optional, time-limited visibility in Find Tutors ("listing sponsorships"). Sponsored profiles are labeled clearly (for example, as "Sponsored"). A sponsorship may affect ordering when results are sorted by rating; it does not guarantee a specific rank or placement. Sponsorships are separate from session booking payments and are paid to Purkinje Lab. We may refuse or disable promotions for policy or quality reasons.

8. Cancellation Policy

Students may cancel a confirmed session. Refund eligibility depends on how far in advance the cancellation is made. Tutors may cancel sessions but repeated cancellations may result in account suspension.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You may not: misrepresent your identity or qualifications; harass, abuse, or threaten other users; use the Platform for any unlawful purpose; attempt to circumvent the Platform's payment system; or share another user's personal information without consent.

10. Intellectual Property

Content shared during tutoring sessions remains the intellectual property of its creator. The Platform does not claim ownership of user-generated content.

11. Limitation of Liability

Purkinje Lab is a platform connecting students and tutors. We do not guarantee the quality of tutoring services. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Purkinje Lab shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
